The Story > In a NYC studio, late one night in May of 1996, the four core musicians of Belizbeha (Jeremy Skaller, Mark Robohm, Bob Dunham and Shawn Williams) were playing a funky instrumental jam when a young trumpet player named Kenyatta Beasley rolled in and laid down an epic freestyle solo. Ironically, it would be almost a decade later before I even heard this and knew it existed at all. So, when I began making this record, I asked the players if I could turn this into a song that I would finally get to be on and have it be a part of this project. It also feels great to have Belizbeha be an integral part of this super special and extremely personal album.
